I am incredibly grateful to say that I have been able to make a career around my main passion, dogs. Beginning at a young age, being around dogs has always been the highlight of my day. I worked as a high-volume dog walker in the Lincoln Park and Bucktown area for nearly 5 years, specifically having extensive experience walking 7-10 dogs at given times. I also spent a few years in Costa Rica rehabilitating homeless street dogs. I really enjoy my job, but I think my dogs enjoy it more! It is always important to provide opportunity for new sniffs, as this is how our furry friends release their endorphins. We are always keeping it interesting with Active4Paws.
Dogs love walks, take walks seriously.
From Italy ( with the best accent ever ) before Giovanni was full-time dog walking for Active4Paws, he worked the last four decades of his life as a chef. Giovanni happens to be the best friend of my husband, and now a dear friend of mine for close to 15 years, in addition to being a incredible chef and wonderful lifelong friend, Giovanni carries a tremendous work ethic and truly enjoys his time outdoors with our furry friends. Giovanni is knowledgeable on how to perform dog CPR.
A volunteer vet tech for street dogs in Russia , Katya and I met back in early 2020 when Covid began and we were both forced to stop dog walking / pet sitting . Luckily for us ( and the dogs ) grooming salons were still open for business and this is how Katya and my friendship turned employment began. I very quickly noticed Katya’s calm demeanor almost always rubbed off right away on any anxious dogs entering for grooming. Katya balances out her two main passion of dogs and children by teaching art class to kids a few days a week, well filling the rest of her week dog walking and pet sitting for Active4Paws.
I own Wags on Willow dog grooming salon in Northfield. I highly recommend Carina’ dog walking and boarding services to anyone whos is looking for a reliable, pet loving, kind and knowledgeable person to take care of your dog’s needs. Carina is truly passionate about giving dogs a rewarding and enjoyable experience while in her care. She is such a warm person – you will love her!
Carina Brinkmann is an invaluable asset to Famous Fido Adoption Alliance! She comes in every Saturday to help work with the bigger and usually harder to handle dogs, which is not a task that just anybody can do. It is a big responsibility to be trusted with taking dogs off the premises and even handling some of them.
Gloria Lissner, the founder and director must know that the select few people she entrusts with helping share responsibility of caring for animals that society has let down of not only as a serious passion for helping animals, but also knowledge of animal behavior, including subtle changes in body language and comfort of the animal to make sure they are not put in any dangerous situations for animal or handler. Many of our dogs come from situations where they may have behavioral issues and many of them need lots of work on socialization and manners. They look forward to their time with Carina, who takes them for walks and exercise, works on their manners, etc.
We depend on special people like Carina and so do the dogs! In addition to dedicating time to helping the animals directly, we also count on Carina Brinkmann to assist in taking dogs to vet appointments or spay/neuter surgery so they can be adopted! As previously mentioned, it is a big responsibility to be entrusted with handing a dog, directly, we also count on Carina Brinkmann to assist in taking dogs to vet appointments or spay/neuter surgery so they can be adopted! As previously mentioned, it is a big responsibility to be entrusted with handing a dog, such as a large, excitable, and possibly flighty pit bull out of the building, and she is one of the few people we know we can count on to put the animal’s safety and well-being first.
She also helps out at our various fundraising events and we are thankful to have her as part of our team! It is hard to find dependable people like Carina who and interested in doing good work and not expecting anything in return besides appreciative dog kisses and affection, and knowing that they are making a difference!
Our dogs are very sweet but both are big, strong rescues who need a little ‘extra’ attention on walks and in training. We didn’t want them to forget all their manners after being walked by someone other than us, which we noticed was happening. We reached out to Curtis Scott who helped us with training when we first got our dogs and he recommended Carina. We’ve been using Carina for dog walking and some training for over several months now and we couldn’t be happier. We all loved her from the beginning. She is kind and smart and is wonderful with our pit bull and great Dane. She is a terrific resource and we look forward to a long relationship with Carina not only as our dog walker but also in doing more training with our dogs under her guidance. We are very thankful to have found Carina through Curtis!
When Carina walks my 10-year-old mix, Coconut, he comes home tired, tail wagging and a happy boy! She truly cares about his well-being, and I feel like I have a partner in caring for him. Highly recommend her services!
